January is National Train your dog Month!
The message is simple: training is not a luxury, but a key component to good animal care. Everyone who has a pet should understand that basic fact. Training is a way to enhance the quality of life for our pets. It is far more than just teaching a dog to do a cute trick. Training is about teaching a dog (or any animal) how to live in our world safely.
Probably the biggest reason dogs misbehave is they dont get enough exercise or mental stimulation. A half hour of training can tire them out more than (an) hour at a dog park. And it actually helps them to learn.
“He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.”
